How to Choose the Right Gowning Bench for Your Airlock
Selecting the right gowning bench helps maintain proper cleanroom separation, cleanliness, and workflow.
Clean/Dirty Side Separation
When a gowning bench is used to separate the clean and dirty sides of an airlock, a solid-base design helps prevent contaminants from passing underneath the bench. Solid-base benches are available with or without storage and can be securely anchored to the floor.
Size & Clearance
Standard gowning benches are typically 3–7 feet long and 16–18 inches high. When installing a bench between walls, allow approximately 1–2 inches of clearance on each side for cleaning and access.
Cleanroom Construction
Bosio gowning benches feature a sealed underside for improved cleanability. Type 316L stainless steel is available for environments requiring more aggressive cleaning or decontamination chemicals. Pedestal-leg designs provide an open, easy-to-clean configuration.
Shoe & Bootie Storage
Gowning benches can also incorporate compartments for dedicated cleanroom shoes, booties, and other gowning supplies. Storage configurations can be open on both sides or closed on one side depending on the airlock layout and SOP requirements.
Custom configurations and sizes are available to meet specific cleanroom and facility requirements.
